At last I finished the extended windshield tray.
For all of the members that are using a tray similar to mine. There is going to be a issue making your heater and defroster work again. The Fiero pulls in outside air for the heater and defroster through a vent located under the cowl. If you use a extended tray like I am using you will block the airflow and your heater and defroster will no longer work. If anyone would like some more information as to how I overcame this issue. Let me know and I'll add it to the thread.

Sean;
Very nice. Could you please take more pics of the area where you built up your tray on each side. I have built my tray up to sit on the front dash areas you have but I want to see how you mounted your windshield wiper assembly etc. as well as I haven't gotten around to that just yet. I was going to use metal to build up the front area to better allow for front deck lid sealing but you seem to have a nice setup there. Did you end up going with the Neon wiper assembly after all or stay with the Fiero?
I am also interested in what you did for the air inlet. I was always under the impression that if you covered the air holes on the top of the dash areas as we have, the air to come in to the heater box inlet area under the extended dash tray from the rubber drain tubes that go down to through the bottom of the intake area? If that assumption is incorrect, then please do show what you did for the air intake as I have done the same thing you are doing with my extended windscreen.
Great work
Cheers Don

Don,
When I get a chance I'll post some more photos of the tray and wiper set up. At this point I decided to stay with the Fiero wiper setup. Primarly because I didn't want to mess around trying to figure out why the Neon motor would only work on hi speed. What I ended up with was to mount the wiper linkage backwards. In other words the passenger linkage is now on the drivers side. The motor is now over near the windshield washer reservoir. Although I may change this by reshaping the linkage arms. I'll also post some photos on that as well.
As far at the air intake is concerned, I didn't realise until after I mounted the tray that the air intake would be blocked. Woops..... I don't believe there will be enough air pulled in through the drain tubes. The heater and defrost will need more air flow than that in order for it to work properly. The intake for the heater/defroster intake on my 88 Fiero allowes approximately 22 cubic inches of air into the heater box through the cowl area. The vents alone would probably only allow about 20% of that. Since my Fiero has factory air. I discovered that when you set the control to (MAX AC) the system opens a intake to pull air into the system from inside the cabin. Sooooo. I just turned the AC to Max and then disconnected the wire from the control. Now the system just pulls air from inside the cabin and not from the outside air. Although I admagin you could also run a tube to the outside air from where the windsheld wiper motor used to be mounted to allow more flow.

That sounds like a good fix, either that or A.) you'll get hypoxic as you slowly suck all the air out of the passenger compartment. B.) develop stress cracks in the roof from the car trying to implode when the defroster is on max. or C.) your ears just pop a lot. Personally, I think it will be C. but B. sounds much more dramatic don't you think?

Maybe your cloths and anything loose in the cabin will suck into the intake as well. That would also work out well for your first date.....

Turns out I wasn't quite done with my extended tray. After changing my wiper setup 3 times I ended up with this. I am still using the Fiero motor and linkage. Currently everything is left unaltered. Just reversed. I will probably move the wiper motor once I obtain another linkage section so it's more tucked away. I'll also make a cover that will hide the linkage. Both for looks as well as safety.

Thanks Green - Here is one more image. The tray was made from fiberglass mat with a steel extention in the center area that was welded to the cowl. The center wiper assembly has a steel base that is welded to the cowl extention. I also added a tab so I could run a brace just for a little extra support. Sorry for the bad reference photo

Thanks for the pics Sean;
You captured the areas I was looking at for my build. I have my garage cleaned up and ready to go now so I just need to get a portable heater for this winter to heat things up and I am back in business.
Hopefully, I will get some heat in there in the next few days and get back to work.
Thanks again Don

I would of preferred both scud front and rear but they were not available at the time of my bumper purchases.
