what I was planning to do with the tail lights is... 1. if you look at the light there is 3 threded wholes for small bolts. 2. I was going to cut out the figure 8 and make it solid and drill 3 small wholes in them to bolt the tail light to them. 3 paint the edges black like the one is. 4. finish cutting the center out and inserting the clear reverse light in. (use a 2'' piece of pve pipe to isolate the reverse light from lighting up the whole tail light) 5. use the stock fiero tail light part where the bulbs twist in and cut it flat to fit the flat figure 8 pannel. I used the back part of the fiero tail lights for the 308 tail lights and used the same method and it worked great. make sure to cut the back part of the fiero tail lights bigger so you can drill the three holes in it too and all the parts will fit together nicely http://img163.imageshack.us/i/taillights.jpg/

So other than sanding, I have been coming up with ideas as to how to "pretty up" the windows I just cut out. Here is what I have come up with so far. This isn't permenant right now, but trying it out. 1. Bought a plastic mat from the dollar store... 2. Cut out pieces to fit in the openings... 3. Used the heat gun to melt the plastic and fit around everything 4. Then I cut and trimmed the excess off.... 5. Then used the edging I trimmed off the mat to use as a window trim.... ....this is a picture of the other side, but you can see what it looked like before, and then the passenger side after. It's an idea, but still thinking about it!?

Does this make any sense??? I got this email from fiero conversions; Quote-
Here is what I want to clarify as I have spoke to my partner. In 20 years of being in business I am sorry I have never had to explain in such detail. We want to clarify if you wanted COMPOMOTIVE wheels as you mentioned in your last email I know customers that have been waiting over 8 months for wheels. They do not make the centers those are made in France. So the other option I have for you is about 4 week wait but can only do up to 16 inch in such a short time. Jim has gotten feedback from our kit car counterparts and they are saying that for sure 17 inch will be a problem. As you know we still build Fiero kits including f40 and know that it is an issue when turn the wheel in too. We don't want to sell you something that will cause problems. 16 inch are 2500 plus shipping and taxes. Let us know what you want to do. If you wanted to talk to jim direct you can 5199726403. Or myself 5192593886 Sent from my BlackBerry device on the Rogers Wireless Network
other than this, nothing new just a lot of sanding!!!

Well I am still finding tiny holes to fill and curves to straighten up, but the sanding is almost done!!! I cut out my side windows and front marker light shields from lexan and fit them in (but not installed) I am leaving for vegas in a few days and I was hoping to drop the car off for painting before I went, but I am about a week behind schedule . Ah well I will have lots of time when I get back to finish it up! I dropped off my Lamborghini yesterday to get painted and clear coated so that makes me happy!! I will take some pictures tonight and post them of the F40 progress later on. Bye for now!

When you are cutting the B-Pillar section out as you have done, my recommendation is to do some remedial welding to tie everything back together. You will want to weld a reinforcement piece down the sail panel about the same angle as you have the side window trim piece set up now. It should go from the roof back edge to somewhere around the top of the rear strut tower. You should also weld the inner and outer braces in what's left of the front of the B-Pillar to help with rigidity. Also cap the top of the firewall piece where you came across horizontally and the roof section that was left when taking the top cut from the B-Pillar. The Fieros are really good at getting flexible once you start cutting away the B-Pillar. May not notice it right away but under strain in corners etc. you will end up with some chassis flex. Welding everything back together really helps with getting everything more stable after removing that much B-Pillar.
Project is looking good though and moving along quite quickly.
Cheers Don

Great find on the wheels! They look great. When you were in Vegas did you swing by the Ferrari dealership and take the tour? I highly recommend it.

thanks Steve! I am hoping it is ready for paint in 2 weeks or less. There is a big car show on April 1st and was hoping it was painted by then, but our trip to vegas slowed us down a bit. The Lamborghini is in the paint shop right now for a new paint and at least that will be ready. I will drive the car out of the garage and take some pictures with the rims and tires mounted. TTYS

any updates? Sorry everyone!! it's been a hectic past couple months!!! I had a bad break up with the girlfriend ect. but am still going on the Ferrari. I have welded in supports on the rear pillar like Don suggested, and keep finding flaws and missed inperfections in the fiberglass. So I am constantly mudding and sanding. I am getting close to paint and will check in and update more often now that things have settled down!! See you al soon. Mark
