    engine time into non-stretch Countach..

Hey guys.. its engine/tranny time for the non-stretch countach headache..err.. project!

So.. I called up Kennedy Engineering and got some price numbers on the conversion kits for a longitudinal setup.

I am very intersted in plumbing together a ford 302 with a Audi 5000 transmission to make it logitudinal.

Anyhow.. I was wondering if the 302 plus tranny would actually FIT under the non stretch fiero.

The car is a 84 with the stock cradle. New mounting tabs and whatnot will be fabbed.

So who can help me fit this in here!

Re: engine time into non-stretch Countach..

Not easily, and maybe not at all. I think when we re going through everything and investigating a while ago, we thought that maybe the 3" stretch 355's could make it with some cutting of the firewall for the top of the engine with a V6 3800 if memory serves.

I can pretty much assure you that a longitudinal V8 will not easily fit in there without some pretty serious angles on the axles and a bunch of cutting into the firewall for the top of the engine.

You now have that horrible decision........ do I cut the frame and body to stretch to the oem length for the longitudinal or do I buy Murci-Me's fake engine cover and hide a transverse V8 or V6?........ :-\

I think I can guess what the answer will be.....

Good luck and keep the transverse and use an engine cover in my opinion.

    Cheers
