my car build

hi to all,i have been reading the forum for a long time.i dont post, but enjoy reading everyones builds.i have messed with cars for a long time and have always want to build my own car from the ground up.well to make a long story short,i was going to build a diablo.well after restoring my fiero and putting all new suspension, corvette brakes and a 383 with tuneport fuel injection(getting the mechanical done first)i didnt have the heart to cut it up.so instead, i like the looks of the labala alot from graber cars.light wieght, cheaper to build and not many built.also i could add my touches with out the redicule of not being an exact replica.so i bought the plans and a pile of steel and went at it. here are some pics of the chassis.my chassis is a bit different than the plans, the labala didnt have doors and that was a must for me. if you guys are interested i will post more of the build and keep it to date.

i have one more of the chassis, these photos were taken before i recieved my body.i could not go any farther until it came for final braceing to see where the doors would fall in.

once my body was here i got it mounted and finished up the chassis

then came the hard part, the doors!! this was by far the hardest part of the build for me so far!i made a working door out of tubing first, then bonded the skin to it.that way their is no stress on the fiber glass.once the doors were working i started in on the door sills and inside part of the doors.

went and bought a sheet medal brake, wanting to keep the car light i did my door sills and inside doors out of 22 gauge metal, fiberglass would have been nice but i am not a big fan of doing it my self.and not haveing a clue on what i was doing the metal was alot easier to work with and make changes as i went too!but they came out pretty nice once done.

that is on the list,i live in ohio so a full time convertable would really limit the drive time.
that was one of the hard part of doing doors too, knowing the hard top is in the future.i had to think about window placement seals and so forth. steve from graber cars has one under development as i type, not sure if it will work for me yet.

Well done. The chassis looks great. Not a fan of the body but the rest is right on.
