Project Diablo TG (Tall Guy) BUILD thread

Fairly new to this forum, posted a few questions in other sections, figured I better start somewhere with a build thread. Hoping as this moves along others can offer suggestion's an insight into my build.

I had been looking at Diablo kits for a while, both new and pre-owned. I ended up purchasing an IFG diablo kit that a guy had bought in the mid 90's and never really did much with it. Took about a 10 hour drive out to Montana (which is relatively close for me), but I picked it up along with a few other parts. I got the IFG diablo VT body and misc. body parts, set of 4 OEM Diablo rims, pair of 300ZX headlights, tailights, set of OEM diablo door latches and a few boxes of misc. parts. Also got a set of headlight forms from another kit he had bought to convert it to the 300ZX headlights, the VT kit had the tip up lights.

Few pics of what I brought home.

I had a cart I had made from a previous project to hold a drivetrain. I bought a little steel, little cutting, took about an hour but welded up a cart to hold the body off the floor a few feet so I could work on it.

This thread will be painful if that was the kit for sale over on kitcentral for only $3k. By the time I called someone had already bought it. :'(

Pic of the tip up headlight first. I marked the new headlight mold on the body and cut the VT style out. I took a paint stick and cut a few pieces a couple inches long. I used some 5 minute epoxy and glued them underneath the body. This would allow me to screw the new area in place from the bottom to hold it while I glassed it. I planned on glassing it from the bottom, so when both sides are done on the top, flip it over and grind the wood out.

Pics of cutting matte, and glassed in. Ground back on the top about 3" from the edge. Didn't go real thick since I plan on glassing on the back side. About 2 1/2 layers of matte on the top.

Pic of the old VT style and the new one glassed in. And just a glamour pic of it sitting in my paint booth.

Used an Epoxy resin to glass it in, from what I have read the Epoxy works better to adhere to cured Polyester fiberglass.

This is a couple pics of the back side of the VT headlight area I cut out. I am new the lambo kit car world, and I know nothing about IFG, but I am assuming this is why they went out of business?? This has got to be the crudest, most chicken sh#t welding I have ever seen? Also the duraglass smeared on like cake frosting?
