tube chassis and hanging the body panels

well yall i am going to try and do this build diary thingy. i am currently working on another chassis build and i will be hanging a body on it for my customer. it will be an lp640 roadster. so over the last couple days i have started putting the chassis together. i will be building a second chassis right beside it so please bare with me on the time. also i am by myself, one man operation. i have a countach build in the mix, along with parts that i make for other people also. but anyways i am to this point. now this chassis will be a touch heavier than the last one i did because its a roadster. so you might notice some different tubing in places from the last one i did. i also did some minor adjustments because i did not like some things about the last chassis.

well now that i am finally working my way back into my fab shop after a day of finishing up some fibergalss work and a whole lot of cleaning up. i took about an hour or so tonight to mess with jim's 640 roadster build. it was already 7.30 so i figured no sence working on the chassis tonight and decided on getting the front body placed together so i can get the framing started for the front.

my main goal here is to get the inner bumper placed and located. and also to set up for the front fender mounting also while its all together i am going to figure out how i want to run my bracing for the front fenders and bumper

the one thing i did make sure of with the inner bumper was is what ever hieght measurement i took on one side it was the same for the other.
also for a future note the top edges of the mercy hood is 28 inches wide so i placed the fenders at the point where the hood sits at 28 1/4 which should give me around an 1/8 inch gap between the two.

now before i go and drill some 1/8 inch hole for the cleckos i will stop and make damn sure thats where i want the inner bumper. i dont like welding or drilling anything until i cant go anyfurther without doing so. this way if it ends up wrong it is only a tack weld, piece of tape, or a sharpie mark.

i also at this time will drill out all the location hole (mounting holes)

I wish someone would offer to do this kind of thing with a Ferrari F430 Spider replica. I know Spyder Sports Cars here in the UK does the same thing with the Gallardo and I think it's awesome stuff, but still, would be nice to see it done with a Ferrari.
