Consumer Opinions on a Honda CR-Z donor with a custom design

Just a fun dream concept I wanted to share with you guys.

    20k Donor with a custom 5k design
What do you think, would the general public shell out for something like this?

Ha, that's funny - I just saw one last night and said the roofline would probably make the perfect 458 donor...

I don't think I'd buy one right now though - the cost would be too prohibitive. Once they've been out for a few years, warranties have expired, and you can get one for $4000 in decent condition, I'd be all about it.

how does a CR-Z have a perfect roof line for a 458? the windshield... maybe. But the roof line... no way.

it would be more than $5k to chop up the roof and rear of the cr-z. reinforce the structure. buy and install custom side, quarter and rear glass. buy and install the kit. body work, paint, headlights, taillights, grills, exhaust ect.

Right passed the door pillar to the rear is where cuts are needed and a simple angle grinder ($50 rented and a garage to use) possibly could do the job. Using the existing tail and front lights in the design (not going for the Ferrari look alike), stock hatch window glued and inserted, vinyl paint($300?), should all bolt on easily if the body kit was made right.

I think making the headlights would be tricky, specially if one was to make the headlight covers appear professionally manufactured.

Lastly the cars old bumpers could be put on ebay for some cash back, but definitely this would be a pricey car. I think it could have a lot of potential though like if one was to own the electric version but have 2 electric motors... one in the front and back... or even motorcycle engines, this light car would scream.

I bet a full stretch replica can be done, then go all out for a mid engine!

Just thinking now, buying a new Honda is a good investment as I think these cars will last for a long time to come and some consumers will fully appreciate that.. Also the interior is so modern, you dont have to do much to it depending on the models trim.

    Custom

    Hybrid concept I think

I think it's the angle at the top of the door that so striking - different than what you're used to seeing.

Why not try it on a different donor? Looks like what you have in mind would look great on an eclipse.

At a glance, I thought the CR-Z would be a good donor for the 458 - the glass looks similar, which is the dealbreaker for most cars, in my opinion. After an 8 inch stretch, roof require after the b pillar, and dropping the whole thing a few inches, it looked plausible. I think it's closer in some ways than other donors, but not as good as it seemed at first glance.

Wow great eye man, this looks like the best option seeing how the cars modern and cheap. After an extensive roof job it looks just as exotic as the Italia roof line.... I even fit the Ferrari on it too, it would look perfect with a windshield and new roof top but the front end looks a bit too thick.
    Donors start from 7-10

The eclipse has been used as a donor for the 430 replica by a member here on this forum. The build looked very promising but it came to a halt. Check it out for your self
