    petrol tank help again haha

Ok i have pulled the whole area apart to extend the filler cap. now i looked at the main pipe which has a clamp on the end so thats no prob to extend but near the top where the cap is there is a smaller pipe going off into the engine somewhere can this one be just cut off and sealed shut or will this one have to be extended also by the way its on a mr2 spyder. thanks

its either a return or a vent, either way you need to keep it

Agreed - you don't want to seal it off. If it's a vent pipe, you'll have trouble at the gas pump - the auto shut off on the gas pump will keep triggering, and it will take forever to fill the tank.

You can extend it with rubber hose, but make sure it's specifically for fuel - gasoline will eat through normal rubber hose; not a good idea...

Also make sure the rubber hose you replace it with can Handel ethanol. Older cars did not have the new hoses that cars have today that can support the ethanol. A lot of guys with outboards and gas engine boats are having tons of fuel line problems because the ethanol is eating the old style rubber hoses.
