no its a uk system made by a guy in his garage near me in Northampton, hes a chemist!
it is proper chrome ie silver nitrate and aluminium and half a dozen other trace elements and chemicals suspended in de ionised water, we apply a primer which is based on a primer for the material were covering, then add a tin'ing agent to assist the silver adhesion.
from that it is dried (its a very wet process more so than normal waterbased painting) and tehn we top it off with a very special clearcoat, its a blend of different types of clearcoats, this then lifts the chrome and suspends it above the actual surface you applied it too (chrome is .3mm thick) this suspension means it does not suffer with ingress over time and discolouration is 10 years plus, thats better than a dipped chrome plate part!
it also means that the chrome is flexible it will bend full backwards on its self but not full forwards on its self without cracking (ie it will on a piece of material fold to a 2mm radius)
to my knowledge we are the only ones that do it this way, and therefore can do the surfaces and finishes we can do.
certainly the chemical make up of the chrome is unique to us and the clearcoat is too along with the way the clearcoat bites through theh chrome layer
the application process and spray guns has been around for years we do however make our own special applicator

do you have a minimum order for chroming? this isn't car related but movie prop replica related and in urethane resin, since I normally make sci fi Prop replicas...this is the replica in question, it has chrome blades and the overall body is chrome then painted leaving chrome edges all over it...

Enzo, love the Gentian Blue and the Grass Green, Is there any chance you could post a photo of a peice of work in a solid colour, I'd like to see the mirror effect on a larger scale.
