Audi Transaxle discussion (which setup works best for your setup)

I was hoping we could compile a list of transmissions that are best suited for replica's. The most common is the Audi 5000 transmission, but as the years go by I noticed a lot newer transaxles/transmissions from audi that might be suitable. I was hoping some of you guys could give some insight as to why you chose one over the other and why. Including size, power/torque reliablity, price and ease of fabrication cost to mate to an engine choice. If you have any images or would like to share links to shifter cables, mounts, or rebuild kits please do so... People should know what they are getting into before randomly buying a transmission. I am hoping this is going to be helpful to myself as well as others.

Thanks! and hope to see some post soon!

If you go to the GT40 forum and do a search there is a ton of information about all of the available transaxle options and comparisons of strength and gear ratios.
