    Obtaining a new ownership/title for a car?

bought a parts car, and it came with no title or ownership. I did a carfax on it, and it came up clean, never reported stolen or anything like that.
Its in pretty terrible shape (84 no options) aren't much frame rails left, cradle is rusted, engine is missing many pieces...

I was originally just going to part it out, but with my new purchase of a MIG I'm thinking of attempting to restore it (Got the empty garage, so why not?). I don't want to invest the time into fixing the frame though if I won't even be able to get it plated.

So, anyone know if its possible to get ownership printed up? Am I going to have to track down the last known owner (Don't know if this is even possible...)?

    Re:Obtaining a new ownership/title for a car?

Dale Van Blokland on Lambobuilder.com recently went through registering his car in Texas. He had to get a new VIN assigned. He wrote a detailed description at:

Things are probably different where you are, but maybe this will help.

    From the website:
"When they came I had to provide the following:

Title to the donor vehicle "

I don't have one for this car!!

Actually the DMV should send a letter to the last known owner for you (but you have to notify the DMV).I think your in Canada so try contacting you local DMV and explain the situation.

It's an '84 Fiero in terrible shape with no options. Stick with the original plan. The car isn't worth saving unless you have some sentimental connection to it.
