    paul's exotic kit?

I tried to first search for paul exotic kits but i can't seem to get the search function to work. i'm pretty sure this has been discuss here before.

there is a guy selling his 355 kit project that is close to me. it's a paul's exotic 355 kit. i'm not really interested in the kit (cause i want an AD kit) more so all the other things he has forsale along with it (donor vehicle, interior parts, wheels).
    my questions:
    1. how good or bad is his kits?
    2. does his kit require a stretch?
    3. does it have seperate rockers?
    4. i assume the front and rear are 1 piece?

    thanks,
    toms...

    Re:paul's exotic kit?

Here is some of the history as I know it. Paul's Exotics had used two different kits in the past. The latter was from Mike Vetter, who purchase the old Lucas molds and reworked the molds to correct the problems. The body should look like the one Spyder has on this site, although I think he got his from Mike Vetter. Mike is now in the Lambo Reproduction business and no longer has the molds. The rumor has it the Paul's has them but I have not verified this information. If you have one of Vetter’s kits the glass will look pretty good. One way to check is to see if the rear quarters measure the same above the rear wheel. One side of the older kits will be 1 and 3/4 wider than the other. The rockers are built into the door and the hood has clipped corners. The front fender well opening is too big as well as the rear wheel opening making the car look to high on the frame even when lowered unless you cut the rear opening and lower it. I am going on about this so I will stop. There are a lot of issues with those kits. They take a lot of work to get to look as good as Spyder’s car.

    thanks dave,

this kit is not even mounted so are the other things that i could look for that doesn't need measuring. the only reason i'm interested in this kit cause he has a low mileage donor vehicle, the interior, and wheels. the kit is a coupe but i really want a convertible but if it's not too bad of a kit it might be worth reselling.

    Tom:

If he has the chassis work completed and the suspension and wheels done you might be on to something. If it is cheep enough, you can toss the kit or cut it up and make a trailer out of it like I am doing with some old parts.

    Re:paul's exotic kit?

i went to look at the kit yesterday. the top section is seperate from the rear, so it looks like that if i left off the top it could be a convertible.

do you have to cut the front off and lower the radiator?

    here is a pic.

what is all this stuff worth?
    '88 gt 5 speed with 48K miles
    355 kit
    fiberglass interior molds
    17" cobra wheels
    replica lights
    badges

    thanks,

    Retail? My guesses:
    '88 gt 5 speed with 48K miles - $1500-$3000
    355 kit - $2500-$4000
    fiberglass interior molds - $600-1000
    17" cobra wheels - ~$1000
replica lights - $300-400 (depending on what he means by replica lights)
badges - $300ish (Also depends on a few things)

    Tom:

How much will you have to pay for the car and the parts?

It looks interesting and you might be able to part it out and make a nice profit.

He wants $5500 for all the stuff in the pic.
He also has an '87 gt that has a Mr. Mikes interior that i would love to pull out and use in my kit. the '87 also has headers and borla s/s exhaust that would also be swap.
the '87 is $1800. i thought about getting both and selling the kit with the '87 but i'm not sure how much i could get for the kit with the '87?

    edit: pics of the '87
