A picture is worth a thousand words...but sometimes that picture may beat you out of a thousand bucks

    Re:scuderia shields

I recently purchased a set of scuderia shields for my 355 kit. They are made of heavy metal and the quality is first class.

I wish they were bolt on instead of 3M tape on though. Is there a way to put a weld on stud (like the little one I have holding up the shield) on one of these without damaging the finish?

dave i dont know of any way to weld them, but i dont see why you couldnt rough up the stud and the sheild back with a coarse abrasive on a low rpm tool,to hold down heat,or maybe use 40 grit by hand on the back of the sheild, again to hold down heat to keep from damaging the finish on the front of the sheild and glue the stud or studs to the sheild with one of the modern two part epoxy glues.i use the 2 part epoxy bumper repair kits, available everywhere, for about 15 dollars,to glue all kinds of things and ive never had a [comeback]using it for glue.

    That is a good idea!

I have some JB Weld 2 part. I might take your advise and give that a try. It has held a lot of things on FunnyWheels over the years.

Remember, if your going for authentic with the Scuderia shields, you need to recess them into the fender.
