Lambo Windshield ( Updated - fiberglassed steel frame and welded to body)

I had to drive 3.5 hours to LA to pick up
my custom ground and cut windshield.

He is very reasonable and as long as you
can send him an accurate template and
a model car - he can make it work!

I got lost in LA and he DROVE out to a
Granger parking lot in middle of no-place
to deliver the windshield. Good guy and
I recommend his work too. It fits exactly
    as my template.

Re:Lambo Windshield ( How have you all mounted your windshields? )

Folks, I wanted to know if any of you can
help with your solutions for mounting windshields.

I was thinking about putting a metal frame around
the windshield instead of just the regular universal
gasket thing that the local glass guy wants to use.

He says something about just glueing the the windshield
to the car but I just do not see how that will keep the
thing on the car - I think I need to also have a metal
    frame around the glass too.

    Help!

urethane is the best way to adhere the glass to the body but because you are missing some of the black ceramic edge and also because you will be sticking it to raw paintwork you will need a urethane primer both on the body and on the glass

    Mounting your windshield
Urethane is a really good glue and is recommended to fasten in the glass, OEM uses it. However, we are working with a somewhat flexible fiberglass. It is possible to crack your new windsheild on a fiberglass body if it is urethaned and not steel reinforced all the way around the window frame.
    Foam core butyl tape

is what I used. It provides flex and seals great. The windshield can also be removed a heck of a lot easier with this stuff too.
It is NOT recommended for windshields but it works....trust me.

i suppose i have a problem with legalities with these type of products, there have been serious investigations in australia in regard to rollovers and such accidents, there are very strict design rules here and with the common use of airbags in most cars nowadays, even the cheap vehicles, it can be very dangerous to not have a secure adhesion with the windscreen.

    anyway, there ya go.

    Hey folks,
What about the metal framing that I see some cars
with? Usually it is high shine black.

What cars are you referring to that have this "metal frame"?
The cars I've built and have seen glass put in all use black ureathane. Are you talking about the trim that surrounds the glass?
