Decided to Chop the Top! Diablo Roadster to Convertible. ( Pics of my idea )

I think I can pull it off with what I have learned
this year regarding welding, body work. I have
flared the fenders front and rear and now I just
can not leave that plain old roadster back window
area as it is.... Again this decision is a result of
another mistake.... Those racing seats with the
extra padding and 5 point harness are about 2 inches
too tall but *squeeze* in side to side. I am
thinking of having double roll bars contouring the
    seat tops.

What do you all think and have you seen this done
    before?

Is there a photoshop wizz that can whip up a convertible
    diablo roadster? ;D

    Thanks

    Reinkauf,

Your mistakes as you call them continue to turn out to be strokes of genius.

This car is going to be sooooo trick (uh that means good). I really, really love the fender flares, and now this.

You are definatly on the right track.

NOOOOOOO. The Roadster is the ultimate cruzin car. I think lamborghini did great job on this design. My opinion only, don't cut it. I would cut the seats down before the car.
What about the height of the air intakes and radiator intakes behind the cockpit. I think you would need to cut them out also to make the body lines flow.
    My opinion....thats all

I have taped off the area I am thinking about removing.
I would then shape to fit the outline of the seat top.

i say if you like the idea and know how to do it, go for it. you
ARE building a custom car anyway and i dont see a better
excuse to mess with the looks to fit what you like.

It should look OK if that is all you want to remove. You will need a rear window or something in order to seal off the cabin for a safety inspection. Third brake light can always go into the wing or engine cover.

    Hey Jim,

I do not understand exactly what you mean by
"You will need a rear window or something in order to seal off the cabin for a safety inspection."
