    Idea for 355 gauges

Hey everyone, I'm new around here.

I was wondering what all of you who built/are building 355 replicas are using for the gauges...

I got this idea, instead of putting VDO gauges in the replica gauge panel, how about putting there the original Fiero speedo and tachometer, and applying a new 'skin' to them?

I made some images to have an idea:

the original Fiero gauge panel... We would rip off the speedo and tacho, put them in the replica gauge panel, and apply printed skins from these images:

What do you guys think? ???
It's not exactly like the 355, because for example the odometer is in a different place, etc... Also, there's a little trick: the original 355 speedo goes up to 200 mph, while the Fiero goes up to 120. So we do show the 200, but in KPH!

Compare to the original 355 gauge panel:

I've got high-res images if you want to print it

    Cool. There you go:

The original 355 has oil pressure and water temp in the small ones in the middle, but since the Fiero has water temp and gas, we use those...
We've got a little problem that is, in the Fiero's gas and water temp gauges, the needdle is faced down, going from left to right. What we could do is put them upside-down, but then the needle would go right-left... Any ideas?

Again, I got high-res images if you wanna print it

    Re: Idea for 355 gauges

After some inspection I came to the conclusion that trying to modify a Fiero inst. cluster to fit my 355 guage pod would be more trouble than it's worth so I decided on a set of VDO guages. It costed about $400/US and ended up fitting very well. It'll be great to have Ferrari dial faces, but realistically I probably won't be driving over 100mph that often.

Does Classic Instruments out of Michigan still sell the replica 355 gauges now that Modena(Pete) is no longer involved? They were nice gauges, just a little over priced.
