    Re: talk about needing a stretch

    It doesn't need a stretch as much as a thorough redesign... The WB is only about 1.5 inch short.
    The car is most probably 7-8 inches too high... Cheap design so they can keep the Fiero top intact.
    I wonder why nobody ever came out with a good GT40 kit based on the fiero though... If you can make
    a 40-42 high countach out of fiero, I suppose you could make a 40.5 inches high GT-40 !!!

    Comments please!

    Door skins are too high. You could lower the roof line but it would have a chopped look with windows only 5" tall. Heavy door modification would be in order. Even 2" is taken out of the fiero door height on select AD 355's

    I must say you guys are too harsh. That looks like a pretty nice 90's kit car .. your tastes are becoming
    too upscale and exacting .. ;D

    There are good reasons our tastes are becoming upscale and exacting. In this case, the reason is provided by V8Archie.

    I don't even think this one is going to go at $10k... I know I wouldn't want it for half that. It is goofy looking...

    Yes, Archie's car is $40k as a turnkey. What do you think most people have in their kits by the time they have them looking this good? (If they ever get this good.)

    The problem with this car is not that it doesn't look like a real GT40. The problem with this car is that it just looks all wrong. Period.

    The car definately has an issue with the roof-line, but I think the real problem comes in with the ride height. He's the same car, but put into more of a proper stance;

    The car would look even more accurate if the front suspension was raised upwards just a tad.

    I think stance / ride height is a HUGE issue when building a replica. Too many times have I seen someone bust their ass making a good body and a decent interior, only to have it riding down the road with a suspension set as high as a Hummer H2! :

    the gt40 is a hot car, but i do agree with derwin , if its not at least 50,000.00 its going to look bad. just because of cut corners to save. to be realistic i think a replica needs at least 60,000.00 - 80,000.00 to make it look good . maybe not exact but to make it look like a exoctic. ive seen some really good gt 40 replicas at some shows. it looks just like the real deal for 70,000.000 . yep its pricey but hey it look really good interior and exterior.
