How to UPLOAD IMAGES and crop images. YOU NEED TO BE A PATRON TO UPLOAD IMAGES.

*Edit by Ari: This message is a combination of numerous posts on the topic of image uploading. Thanks AutoMX for your hard work in writing these tutorials!
    -----

    HOW TO UPLOAD AN IMAGE:
In order to upload images, you need to become a MADMECHANICS.COM Patron - More information on this posted here!

If you have your own webhosting account elsewhere, you can still link to images hosted on your own account without becoming a patron.

Now, onto the image posting tutorial:

Imagine you are writing a new topic or replying to a message. There is a white box you normally type your message into, and then click "submit".

Under this white box and to the left there is now a text link which reads "Additional Options...". Click this link.

A new list of options will appear.

The final option is "Attach". In order to upload an image, click the "Browse" button located by the "Attach" option. This will open a "locate file" dialog box. Using this dialog box, locate the image on your computer and click OK.

Then submit your message as normal, and your done!

    HOW TO CROP AN IMAGE:

Cropping is the ...art... of taking a portion of an image and
getting rid of the rest. perfect example is those that scan
photos and have a white area around the size of a corn field.
    bad!

-one way is using the scanner software, there should be a
crop button or maybe an icon that looks like a picture frame.
select and then press it. it will get rid of everything not
    selected

    -PAINT: Using the almighty software
    1. once in paint and having the photo/pic open, take the
    rectangular selection tool

    2. select the portion YOU WISH TO KEEP

    3. copy

    4. file, new and if it asks don't save changes

    5. resize the area to something way too small (using the lower
    right corner box)

    6. the area left will be too small for what you just copied, but
    THAT IS OK

    7. edit, paste [ it might ask if you wish to adjust the size to
what you are pasting, if it does, say YES]

    8. there you go, you now have a portion of the original, now
just save it as something else or overwrite the original

    JST:

Patron = send $25 US to Ari and you will be able to post photos on the site. It costs Ari a lot of money to maintain this site so some of us help offset that cost be contributing money to his efforts. Please do so in order to keep the site alive and well.

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Funny.

This is off topic but I wanted to ask you something. Remember you posted pictures of two Countach's on a thread a while back? one was a replica and the other was a real one just to campare the two? The real one is owned by David Anderson in Denver CO. Would you know how to get in contact with him, or know any one who could?

    Thanks for your time.

    Try this link:

    Jason Buschmann

    kaportnik@hotmail.com

He lives in Loveland, CO and owns the replica.

    Hope that helps,

    Dave

How does one become a patron? When I click on the link it takes me to this site, not very helpful since I'm already here reading this thread about how to become a patron so that I can post images.

Should I just send Ari a PM so that I can be told how to send the money?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

That should do it. He will provide access once you complete the process.

Sounds good Matt, The opinions will be many and quite varied. If you are building a car there are about 29-30 people actually building a cars on this site and you can learn a lot from them. With regard to the others, you will have to make your own decision upon their content. There are a few selling kits, look on the approved vendor list so you know you are doing business with someone who is honest.

Since there are so many people listed as members we had to have a few Forum Rules; they are as follows:

Registration to this forum is free! (to post and view other peoples photos you need to send Ari a donation, I sent him $25 to help support the site) We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you agree to the terms, please check the 'I agree' checkbox and press the 'Register' button below. If you would like to cancel the registration, click here to return to the forums index.

Although the administrators and moderators of the Kit Car Forum will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of the Kit Car Forum will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate of any laws.

The owners of the Kit Car Forum reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

Posts containing abhorrent statements, expressing extreme hatred or detestation, coupled with foul language and personal attacks on fellow members and vendors as well as photographs of near porno will be deleted.

So it is basically a site to share building methods and photos of your build.

    Regards,

    Dave

Re: How to UPLOAD IMAGES and crop images. YOU NEED TO BE A PATRON TO UPLOAD IMAG

    Thanks Dave,

I've done that and sent a PM to Ari about how to become a patron. I've still not heard anything back.

I've already got my kit, but I have many many questions and would like to post pictures of what I have so that it can be "identified" by the wealth knowledge that resides on this forum.

    ..Matt

Kit is a early 355 Watson I believe.
