I am installing a fire extinguisher as part of my car ASAP.

That would just suck to have your build go up in smoke.

Yep, nice incar fire extinguisher was already on my christmas list. I am also getting one for the workshop. I should really have had one before now, but it always seems to be low down on the wish list.
Connecting the fuel lines up wrongly on my fiero & having fuel spray over the engine bay made me think what could have happened. I really didnt fancy watching helplessly as the car /garage & all my hard work went up in flames!

What type do people recommend for a garage/car??

I have heard powder causes all sorts of problems afterwards(but then its got to be better than having nothing left to clean up!)
How does foam compare with CO2?

    drew 355 I have a powder one
my dad says if you get the powder on your skin it burns your skin. (I believe him because he's probably done it before, he's a hardcore mechanic) we've only used it on a grill fire...but it didn't ruin my dinner!

That reminds of something I read on another forum about a guy who bought a Lamborghini Murcilago kitcar, the same day he bought the car on the way home it caught fire and burned to a shell. If he had an extinguisher he could have saved the car...but he didnt. read the story: http://www.lamboreplica.co.uk/cgi-bi...t=ST;f=3;t=649
