    Lambo Diablo

Which donor has a mid mounted engine and the dimensions are similar to a Diablo?

    MR2?
    Porsche (which one? 928)
BMW 325i , can we move the engine to the back?

    Fierros is not an option.

What suggestions, options is there? I know building a tube frame is the most common choice, but if I dont choose to go for a tube frame?

    Forget about BMW...

MR2 and NSX are good choice....

    Porsche (only Boxter, not 928)

Yes, but they're all into Chev/Ford V8 and Porsche gearbox... I need a donor car which I can simply chang the engine from front to rear, and use it as a donor for a diablo.

I see Opel is mentioned, which one and how.
I see BMW is mentioned, which one and how,
I see BMW is a negative, which one and why?

Why not the 7 series 99 model BMW?

NSX is madness to use, too expensive, I rather keep it, MR2 is a no go...i need a common vehicle which I can do the mods. If alot of work then so be it, what kind of work?

    Re: Lambo Diablo

you don't just pop the engine out and put it in the rear, it's terribly messy and takes ALOT of work to make it safe and solid in the end. you also need to redo the wiring from the entire car and redo much of the chassis in the rear.

as far as cars to use go, you basically need to use front wheel drive cars if a porsche transaxle or an audi 5000 one is too expensive for you (the whole project will cost you much more in the end anyway). you need to replace the front steering and suspension since you would basically be transplanting the engine front wheel drive assembly to the rear.
4x4 and AWD technically could work but they take ALOT of tranny work to jam one output end and give 100% od the power to the other one.

BMW - all models RWD as far i know?
Mercedes - A class is FWD i believe
Toyota - Camry V6, Solara?, and others
Lexus - V6 models (camry engine)
    Honda - Civic and Accord
Saab, ford focus, alfa (forgot which model, the sporty one :P)

the list goes on, but none of those would be any good as a diablo donor. you would be much better off getting a FWD donor and a tube chassis and putting the engine + transaxle + suspension into the tube chassis. making any unibody car like the ones i listed strong enough to hold the engine in the rear would basically mean a tube chassis structure to hold the car and engine together. might as well skip the unibody cutting and just make a new chassis.

it seems like it... if I go tube, can I buy a donor car, say a bmw , and use all parts on it to fit on the tube?

if you use a BMW, you would still need a transaxle to replace the RWD transmission.
