    GT 40 platform

what about using the GT40 chassis platform for new exotic cars? They have the performance, mid engine, and proportions of a low wide supercar. The body panels just need to be updated. I believe there are a few chassis manufacturers out there.

A GT40 is an exotic car already and certainly isn't any cheaper than a lambo or Ferrari. There are several replica lambo builders that have already engineered a space frame that would be suitable.
Here's a couple of good links.

Thanks ferrari, I am familiar w/ those as well.

I was thinking what is holding back the GT40 replica for me is the old school rear end. I guess many builders are nostalgia builders and want accurate reproductions. If that would be updated I think it'd be a knockout car w/ maybe a tweak or two on the body lines elsewhere. The FFR GTM started out with a similar rear end look and they updated it after feedback from potential customers and now it looks great IMHO.
