Extreme F355? I dont think so...

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ferrari-355-MR...QQcmdZViewItem

I was looking at cars on ebay and found this one.

He lies about owning the car and then says that he is selling for a friend...

He also claims that it was built by Extreme but it doesn't look like the kits we know and love today.

Can anyone confirm if this is an extreme kit? It looks like a BAD kit to me.

this is just out of general interest... i dont like blaggers on ebay!

he sent me 2 email about it which looks a bit like bs to me???? here they are...

    hi
well you are the second person to say this, please call ashley at extreme who will confirm its one of his first cars and knows it well then mail me back with what he said - thanks

    Hi

Hi thanks, i am no real expert but know a great deal about these and have
been involved in the development of the new extreme kit by supplying the
front end design form the american rock kit.

I can assure you that my kit is the extreme kit and can understand that you
may be being misled by www.355kits.com as this site is totally inaccurate
    !!!

My kit is the extreme kit build by Ashley in Hull 4yrs ago, I have since
helped him develop the new extreme kit which is the photo on the 355kits
site, the new kit was in the ideas stage when I purchased my car.

There have been 2 bad kits and 2 extreme kits, the first bad kit looks like
my extreme kit and then the second bad kit looks again like the new extreme
kit, each time bad seem to copy the extreme kits.

The 355kits site shows a new extreme kit against the old bad kit which is
very similar to the extreme first kit which is what mine is.

So in summary my kit is the extreme mk1 kit that is virtually the same as
the copied bad mk1 kit, both bad and extreme have made a mk2 kit which again
look very similar to each other.

    Thanks for your interest.

    ok check this out,

I read the which-kit article on the extrme website and it says that he only started making the 355 kits months before the article took place and had set out with the intention of correcting all the minor faults such as the rear quarter glass and gap between bumper and bonnet when starting the project.

    so who do i believe?

Which Kit magazine or a seller on ebay who claims to both own the car and be selling on behalf of a friend?!

Had a look at the advert and one other question for you guys, is this bit always the case ?

As with all of these cars small bodywork faults develop over time and this has the usual odds and sods that any of the other replicas have or will develop, the paintwork is very shiny but has the odd sink mark that doesn’t really notice and also one or two hair line cracks, ideally in a few years have it repainted again

As a person(me) about to start such a kit, is it usuall to have to repaint these every few years ? With painting about £2-£3K this seems quite worrying ?

Someone told me that panels are constantly "moving" and can disalign themselves on the car... is this true also?

The panels should not move if they are mounted correct. What could happen is that the hinges or brackets you use could flex or move, to prevent this just make sturdy brackets and mount it secure. Sactodreamers car has quite literally traveled all around the USA with no panel movement (although it is a trailer queen). As for paint, on fiberglass it is important to seal the glass with a good catalyzed polyester primer, any good paint shop should be able to give you a paint job that will last for years. The reason that most kits paint fails is that the prep work was not done correct, and it was a cheap paint job to start with.
