    Mach 5 replicas.

Is there anyone out there who builds the Mach 5 in kit form?. I seen a few of them in maginzes and also on TV and they look great.

I think you can build one on a Dodge Viper chassis or Corvette. I think the Cobra replica chassis would be the best option for this type of build because its big in the front and wide.

I don't know what kind of engine it would use but i would have to make no more than 850hp and no nitous!. The only engine that could make that kind of power without breaking your wallet would have to come from a 2JZ. I do like the aftermarket parts from MTI that go to a Corvette motor, with a BPU package from them you can run an Enzo!.
So whats wrong with a replica?

That is a nice car to replicate but it's my understanding that anyone caught replicating the car will be sued and the car would be taken. Kind of like the situation when the first Batmobile was replicated without permission. Just my .01% input.

Legally, you can make for yourself whatever you want. It's just when you try to sell something that you do not have the IP rights to that a problem arises. IP rights are not carved in stone, so the exact status of the Mach5 is unknown. Companies like Ford have allowed the GT40 to be replicated for so many decades that they have no precedent to point to in cracking down. Now, the owners of the Mach5 may be different. Talking to an IP lawyer will bring an answer.

    I found a couple links:
2005 artical in which the Mach 5 is said to use an LT1 for it's power:

    Another, older, link:

This one says the car was built on a mid 90's 'Vette. It dosn't say C4 or C5

This link has some good pics in it, and includes a few other cars:

    Lots of info:

Now all you need is the measurements and you can get the foam and glass going. Why is it never that easy?

Thats not bad at all! although id build it on a Cobra Chassis but you can't go wrong with a C4 Corvette.
