    Materials Used?

    Hey All,

Can anybody give me specifics here? What types of foam and other materials are used when creating a buck / shell of an automobile? (not splashing a body panel) I've seen lot's of pics of builders using materials from foam core to wood as the supports but then used some kind of high density foam that can be sanded, etc... Are there more steps involved?

    Any help? ???

    Thanks!

    Re: Materials Used?

I use a standard 2-part Polyurethane expanding foam with large cells (It's cheaper) for the basic shape, then use a spray on body filler and work the details in. This method leaves little work in preparing the plug for the mold.

The final mold will be fiberglass reinforced resin.
