    Stretching An MR2 Spyder

I am in North Georgia and would like to find someone that can stretch a Toyota MR2 Spyder for me. Do you guys know if this is possible and if so who I should contact? I would like to add about a 6" stretch just in front of the rear wheels. Any suggestions?

I am trying to come up with my own design. I do not have anything to show at this point but when I do I will post. Anyone know about doing a stretch?

    Powerhouse,

Thanks for the lead. I spoke with Mike and he is super helpful. Much better than amyone else I have called. Most say no it can't be done or it is too expensive. He just said, "sure I can do it. I can stretch anything" SuperGreat guy. Have you had him do any work for you? If so what?

Sure it's possible and plausible, but unlike a fiero the MR2 Mk3 is a unibody design so stretching it will be ALOT and i mean ALOT more work, and it will kill the handling and accelecration of the car because the reinforced frame (for cloth top) is cut in half then patched up with different metal, plus the added weight will easily bump it from 2150lb to 2400+

My question is why go through this much trouble? You can get a chassis made then transfer all the MR2 parts over (getting a 2nd gen is way cheaper and more powerful) for a stiff and light result, and the cost will be about the same if not less. MR2s are still $10k+ unless it's salvage, which has its own series of problems.

Instead of cutting the chassis it may be worth looking into just moving the engine cradle back into the trunk area and then relocating the shock towers.
