    Finally Decided on a Kit.

I have finally figured out which kit car I’m going to get first. It’s not a Fiero or Mr-2 based kit..
    It’s not an Italian….
I have Finally decided to go with (drumroll please)

    A 1967 Shelby GT-500 Replica (Eleanor)

Yes as my first kit car build I decided to do something A little bit easier. Ever since I first saw gone in 60 seconds (the remake) I’ve always wanted this car.
It’s damn sexy, the parts are all here in the US. You don’t need an excuse why you built it (It’s Eleanor for Christ sake)

Here is what I’ll be doing:
    - Taking a 67-68 mustang fastback, and converting it with the Eleanor Body Panels, lights, grills, etc. www.totalcontrolproducts.com
    - Finding a used 427 “Injected” venom engine. Or a cobra Classic.
    - Supersnake Exhaust
    - “Eleanor” Rims
    - “Eleanor Interior”

This Conversion will take some time considering most of the original car will be modified.
I will probably end up doing a 360 or Murci kit down the road, Until more kits come out or the others get “perfected” I will wait it out.

    Here are some pics

Definitely one of the hottest cars in movie history. Good choice.

Gypsy, my good friend. Excellent choice! I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted. Take lots of pictures/build diary.

It would be a great learning tool for other starter-builders like myself for example.

Yeah, I thought It would be a great learning experience for myself also, I didnt want to buy a lambo, or a 360 and just "jump in"
with the experince I hope to gain with this project I plan to use towards my italian exotic (whatever my choice may be)

The only problem im running into is finding a 66-68 mustang fastback thats not 15 grand and completly rusted without a motor..

But I will keep you updated.

theres 2 companys that has started to do the mustang , one is based on the mr2 and is more of a ricer style kit, i will find the link, and theres another based on a space frame i think.

    No space frame for me,
I need to make the kit using a real 67 or 68 mustang fastback.

yeah that ebay listing is more of a one off kit, the whole rear end is off.
and there are some small differences throughout that kit.

The link i have above www.totalcontrolproducts.com is the same company that produced the panels and cars for the movie.
thats the company im going with.

have you priced out the conversion cost? minus donor and minus labor....

Re: Finally Decided on a Kit.

about $27,000 before the donor and labor. If I can find a donor for under 3 grand that would be perfect
(the $27,000 includes the body kit, lights, Small Block 427 (CHP performance), transmision, drivetrain, seating, interior, paint, everything exept labor (which I will do mostly myself) and Nirtous...
