i think it was made by : Elite Enterprises, Inc
along with their porsche 917 replica
In the USA if you pay a company / person to start a plug, then it,s your plug and work ,it is not theirs to sell or trade !!

Man O man, I love eccentric people like me. I have seen very few cars/trucks, whatever, that I don't like at least something about them.

IKR is correct, for a short period you could buy a kit from Elite but that is not the original. The original was designed to be homebuilt from scratch as a foam core fiberglass construction by R.Q. Riley.

THE BEST PART is the plans are still available from the man himself, visit:

    Cheers,

Re: can anyone give me any info on this???

thanks for your help guys. i have no experience of kit cars or fiberglassing, but am a total vw freak, i seriously doubt anyone here in the uk ever built one of these.

man, i thought it'd be a pipe dream to find one, but to still be able to get the plans!!!!??
any tips for fiber over urethane work to a noob? not intending to build one any time soon, but any tips on little practise projects i could make while i wait to sort a chassis?

    thanks again

Ed, one of the best books on "one-off" foam core construction is actually on the same site. Go to the home page and look around. R.Q. Riley wrote a how to and some of it is even downloadable for free. I have read it and used it, very good stuff. I have moved on to some other techniques but that is a great place to begin and you can do it just like he says and get a good result.

thanks for that bartman, looked thru his little how-to and stuff. when i take one of these on i think i'm gonna get all the literature and stuff, just dont have a frame of reference with this kinda work so far ???
if the technique works for you guys i'm sure i'll be able to at least have a go and see what happens.
i assume that building in this way has endless flexibilty in the design, looking at the pics of that van in progress i reckon it needs a waaaaay sturdier chassis and maybe a cage up front. thanks for all the help guys.
am bound to be on here in the not too distant future asking more silly questions of all of y'all ;D

Re: can anyone give me any info on this???

I will be glad to help you any way I can. I don't think anyone on here uses foam core construction but maybe. It is mainly for one-off construction where building a mold for one part or body is impratical. I have used it a few times, it is cool and it works, that is how they build most surf boards, windsurf rigs, etc.
