Yes I mean the esprit. I was in work and in a hurry when I posted. I know they are affordable as an original but I was told of one in my area that was a kit and was just wondering if a kit was made.

Nope no kits that I am aware of. You can get a good spec twin turbo V8 GT full leather & looks the dogs for around 17-18k UKP. Some people think they are kits as the body is entirely fibreglass.

    Not worth producing a kit.

I helped repair a damaged V8GT & you couldnt get even a basic starter package kit with half the handling or performance for the price he paid for the drivable, but cosmetically damaged esprit.

If you go for an early model (Fugly) you can pick them up for less than 5k UKP

I have never seen a kit for the esprit. Like drew355 posted, it would cost more to build a replica than to buy a good used one. Besides no one is going to invest in the molds and tooling for a car worth less than say $100k, maybe $75k.

I agree with all of you. I think because the body is all fiberglass the person I was talking to may have just assumed it was a kit. We all know the saying about when you "assume". But thanks for the replies.

If you really like the Esprit, by an original! They are getting on a bit, but so are the Fiero's that are mostly used for kit builds. The good part is that there is many specialist dedicated to sourcing new and used parts for these cars.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the body stayed pretty much the same through the second part of its production life of the car, and there was only aerodynamic changes made with new bumpers and spoilers and wings, so theoretically you can pic up a early, well cared for model for around 5-7K British pounds and tart it up to look like a more recent model.
There was a top gear vid about the Esprit some time ago. I'll go have a look and post the link.

here's the link. was fifth gear not top gear, and about buying a original, not so sure anymore.
Though the aim of the show was for a budget 200 mph car, they showed what can and propably will fail eventually.
