    cost of a good murc kit car?

    hey guys i am very new to this forum but i have to say it is great to see all these great cars being built

    that being said i was wondering if these numbers were realistic

    custom built chassis...........................$4500
    used ford or chevy V8.........................1500
    transmission...................................... 1000
    suspension........................................ 3000
    body kit............................................600 0
    interior kit.........................................1500
    light kit.............................................20 00
    great paint job...................................4000
    glass kit............................................200 0
    18 inch wheels and tires.......................2500
    labor for mech's..................................4000
    labor for interior and dash install............1500
    unexpected extras..............................3000
    whatever i might have forgotten to list...3000

    guys thanks any info would be great

    I would say you need to double the cost of the chassis. A rebuilt Porsche 915 with adapter,clutch etc will run 6-8K. Price is good if you are going with an Audi. Paint job depends on how much prep you are going to do. A good rule of thumb is come up with an estimate and then double it.

    i can say that the rims are going to be about $4,000. 13 in wide arent a standard type and you may have to have them custom made if you cant find replicas and tires are somewhere about $1,200. One thing that seems to be the real determining factor is how close to real you want to go. and also how handy you are in building and making/fabricating your own parts. Also the $2000 you said for the lighting kit will basically cover the cost of the tailights. but, luckily it does take a long time to build one so the cost is stretched out over time.

    ok good news is you guys gave me some much needed info the bad news is sounds like $80,000 grand

    gets me a not perfect but a good murc replica i can drive everyday

    oh one more thing a good replica say with a chevy v8 is that lighter than a real murc?

    it seems more like $40,000 for a car but of good quality but, a lot can depend on how handy you are.
