Which members here are 3d printing?

Anybody on here have a printer? Thinking of buying one if I can't find someone to make me some parts.

I use a stratasys and an objet at work for prototyping. These were (stratasys) are (objet) big buck machines $200k+ when bought. Frankly, the Stratasys is good enough for hand pieces and jigs / fixtures, while the Objet is slightly better resolution for finer details with some material options (including clear) but, I think you would be better going to Protolabs or Shapeways for parts.

Home hobby printers are still in their infancy and as such, are worse than our aging Stratasys (I think it's three years old now).

If you are after a dashboard in many parts to clean up you should be okay, but nice knobs and switches our Objet would manage but know that Protolabs and Shapeways can do better, just because you can choose the preferred material and now Shapeways can build in color.

I've been having a bunch of steel parts printed and it's even stronger than MIM.

I'm (having some) 3D printing parts, and I have various solutions for you, depending on what you want printed.

I did Countach heater slider bezel and knobs (here's the CAD file):

I'd be happy to do a CAD file for you to have printed, if you have accurate measurements, but couldn't a Cayenne set be adapted to fit?:

    or a 911 set:

Also these guys do a super wide selection of trim rings and will mix and match from your measurements:

Don't think of it as a cheap option though, finish quality 3d printing ain't cheap!
