    355 front grill group buy?

I'm having a front grill made from the plans that were posted here:

    http://www.angelfire.com/ri2/ferrari_spyder/Grill.html

These were discussed in an earlier thread. If anyone would like to get in on this let me know. It will be cheaper the more I can get made at the same time. I should have a price for it tomorrow. I've heard that the OEM part is around $500. Hopefully this will be a lot less expensive.
These will be made out of aluminum and I plan on having mine anodized black. That could be a group buy option as well if everyone is interested.
Let me know ASAP since I want to get the ball rolling next week.

Re: 355 front grill group buy?

The machine shop called me back today after going over the blueprints and the price we order 10 is $275 each. Any less than ten is $375 each. These will be in unfinished aluminum and a modification was made to the blueprint/plans referenced earlier to keep costs down. The pieces will not be drilled and tapped and screwed together. The pieces will be welded together at the back side. The welds will not be visible from the front.
Black anodizing is extra and will be farmed out to another shop. The machine shop is calling to see if they can all be done at the same time for a discount price.
I can mail these out to anyone in the US for around $10-$15 I'm guessing.
Are there ten of us out there that will pony up for this?
So far I count six tentative orders. There are at least ten of us building AD 355's. How many will need a grill?

My OEM grill and horse was $250 off a wreck.

Perhaps you guys should also look at some dismantled cars as an option.

Dont forget that horse alone is $80

I saw the ebay grill also but I thought the quality didn't look that good. As far as dismantled grills go I search ebay all the time and haven't found one. Please email me with a phone number for a Ferrari dismantler. I'd rather go with an OEM part if it's available and not too expensive. If that's not an option then the part has to be made and that means paying someone for the parts and labor. No getting around it.
I don't have any connection to this particular machine shop and am not making any money on this deal. I've personally inspected this machine shops products and they do good quality work.
Let me know if anyone is still interested.

okay, sounds like a resounding no. I'm going to look around for a used OEM grill for a while but will probably end up having the shop make it.
