    Gauging Interest in my Frame

As I go through the rest for the 355 build, my personal committments and speed of building I am able to get into, I am revisiting using the frame I bought last year as the basis of my 288 GTO project. If someone is interested in taking this frame off my hands, I would go with another stretched Fiero as a base for the project rather than the rest of this build since the Fiero has everything else already done aside from the stretch.

My loss may well be someone else's gain as this frame is a wonderful work of art and would make an excellent platform for someone with more time on their hands than me to complete it. It is set up to take a small block chev V8 adapted to a G50 Porsche trans mounted longitudinally. Height is just over 40" and wheelbase is 98.5". Track is same as Fiero 57 and 58" I think is what a fiero is. It uses a Fiero cockpit windshield, doors frame welded to the custom frame.

I will put together a complete list of ALL the additional parts that come with the frame as there is a ton of stuff and get it posted here later tonight after digging it up out of my records and looking through the various boxes out in my garage.

You can go to the thread here to see some excellent pics of the frame as I got it as well as some shots of additional parts that came with it.

    High level you get:

Frame as per pics in the thread
Full C5 hubs, custom coil over suspension all around
    Corvette rims with new rubber
Posche G50 trans (needs fixing not sure what is wrong with it)
Adaptor palte and flywheel for small block Chev V8 to G50 trans
Aluminum rad, I think dual core
pedal set (gs, brakes dual master, clutch
remote oil pump ( I think I have to confirm this one)
    Aluminum racing seats
    steering shaft and removable wheel
Power steering adaptor for steering shaft
A bunch of plates and holders for various tanks etc.
Custom built fuel tank that sits in the centre tunnel like Fiero
    Heater box for cockpit.
    Fiero doors
It is still registered as Fiero and still has the VIN plate on the front window area.

This is all I can remember for now. More there but can't remember what it all is.

I am looking at $4000.00 CAD for all and buyer responsible for shipping/pick up. I bought from a fellow in Oregon in 2006 and went down to pick it up and trailer it back to my place. Been in dry storage since.

I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada for those in other countries thinking about costs for shipping. I have lots more pics of the actual build as well as of the frame as it stands today in storage. I can send those to whomever is interested in purchasing as the zip file is very large.

    Thanks

    Wow!!

It's a shame that you have no further use of this work-of-art Don....I remember how excited you were when you got the frame and your plans for the 288 GTO. Well, life sometimes gets on the way of plans and things get put on hold for a while. You shouldn't have any problem selling this custom build chassis. Dave had expressed serious interest on your previous thread, assuming he's still interested.

If not him, I'm sure others will jump at the opportunity to build their dream replica from the ground up and do it the correct way.

    Good luck on your project.

yea at that price i doubt you'll have much trouble, it's half of what a cheap diablo frame goes for and thats without any tranny or adapter plates. while it would be a shame to get rid of it, it's a giant amount of work to fab up and fit everything on a new frame.

good luck whichever way you go.

Yes, I was interested in the frame etc. It really is beautiful. The price is right but the shipping is a deal breaker for me. It is just about 5 years to late for me.

You will be able to sell it easily.

Re: Gauging Interest in my Frame

I haven't had any interest in my frame and I think it would probably be due to distance from everyone in the US as well as shipping.

I will help anyone out with shipping by getting it across the border into the States as it is really not hard to do and then deliver it to a shipping company across the border to be shipped from within the US.

I just want to see this frame built out by someone as it is such a wonderful work of art and I am not going to get the time to do it.

    Cheers
