  1. Create the text for your Mad Mechanics post. I usually use Microsoft Word to do this and then copy/paste the text into the thread editor tool.

Then you need to add the display links into the text for the photos. Photobucket will provide you different types of links for different purposes. Navigate to the album with the desired photo and click on photo to select. Under the "Share" menu there's an item "IMG (bulletin boards, forums), mouse over it and select "Copy to Clipboard". Go back to your post text and paste the link where you want to picture to display. It pastes a very long link into the text with the proper brackets around it. Repeat for each photo in post.

I Preview the post prior to publishing it. For some reason the Preview operation will clear the text from editor. So I copy the full text of the post, Preview, and then paste the text back in the editor to make changes or publish.

I hope this helps you out.

  2. Hi Fast Eddy,
I do use Photobucket to host the pictures for Mad Mechanics. It's a pain but does work. I worry about Photobucket changing their policies for "free" accounts and my pictures all of the sudden "disappearing" from the forum but there's nothing I can do about that. As it is, they put my photo albums in a "beta" area of their website so these instructions may vary slightly in the details if you're in the non-beta part of Photobucket.

First I resize photos to 600 by 450 and reduce the file size using an app called Irfanview. This saves a bunch of space so you don't hit the limit as soon in "free" Photobucket account. You can skip this step if you don't plan to have hundreds of photos hosted there.

I use multiple "albums" in Photobucket to organize pictures by topic or area of the car. Upload the photos you to the album where you want to store them.

Hi Joel! I love how the GTO is turning out, and your detailed execution of every step! And the Miura project is truly epic! A question for you: I am progressing on my countach build, and would like to update my thread, but the site doesnít accept my photos any more. I donít have a photo ap. I think you use photo bucket. Could you give me a step by step solution to get my thread to have photos embedded and not links to photos? Iím a bit computer challenged. Thank you very much indeed! Best Regards, Fast Eddy
