    I love those Esprits!

I have yet to do a car build, but one of my dream projects is to rebuild an early S1 or S2 Esprit with an updated drivetrain, perhaps a lightweight V6 of some sort.

Those early Esprits were notoriously fragile and seriously underpowered. Mind you, they did very well with the power they had, but could be so much better. All in all, I have always considered the Esprit to be one of the most striking designs ever, next to the Countach.

Thats my favorite year of Esprit. The Peter Stevens designed.

If I ever got one Id swap out the motor for a 3800.

the motors are pretty solid (if maintained) and can make good hp. the weak link is the trans. as an example the twin turbo v8's were de-tuned from 500hp to 350hp to save the trans.

here are a couple more pics for inspiration. would anybody be interested in seeing a restoration/build thread on these? i bought both of them!

Please! Don't just share the builds with us, splash a mold of that body while you're at it. A Lotus Esprit body built over a custom tube chassis would be a great build.

How's the foot-room in those Esprits? I tested one years ago and found the wheel-well didn't leave much room for my left foot. And I don't have big feet!

umnn you must not know the cost of one of these, you can get one pretty cheap as far as supercars go, not dirt cheap but cheaper than a viper maybe.
