Mr. Mike's staffer lost his home in Hurricane Charley

A few weeks ago when Hurricane Charley hit Florida, Mr. Tim's (one of the people who work sewing up our interiors for our cars) home was wiped out in the hurricane.* You have no idea how damaging these storms can be until your in one of them.* Mr. Mike, his son, my son Bronson, Mr. Tim and I pulled a little clean up duty.* We had to pull out all of the furniture, the carpeting, what was remaining of the plaster and rear porch etc.* He had black mold growing on everything with 3 inches of water sitting in his home.* A total personal loss for him.*

The damage was unbelievable.* He has to live in his storm damaged PT Cruiser until some repairs can be made to a room or suitable housing can be found.* I spent a day in the hospital recovering from a reaction to the black mold in his home and I am still sick from it.* He has to get the damaged parts of his home removed along with the black mold before he can even rebuild or it could kill him.*

If any of you feel like sending him a few bucks to help out the process contact Mr. Mike on how to donate.* It was amazing to see that the real people helping these families are the Red Cross, local churches and the police and fire depratments.* They provided hot meals, ice and drinking water since the hurricane to anyone working on the affected properties.* The Red Cross needs donations as well and are tax deductible.

    Regards,

    Dave

Mr. Mike removing the Florida room drywall.

The black mold is the dark stuff you can see on the plaster. The bedrooms were covered with it as well as all of the 900 pound soaking wet beds.

Our company is donating bottled water to the people in Florida. *We had employees volunteer to run extra shifts in the plant this weekend. *I am set to work tomorrow night, factory work, no pay. *We are bottling like some 100,000 bottles of water in a run, 2 to 4 semi loades total heading to Florida. *Who knows after Ivan. *One load has left already. *Thanks to State Farm and the Red Cross are funding the event, paying for most of our material costs. *It's not much, but it's something to help!
