In the USA if you pay a company / person to start a plug, then it,s your plug and work ,it is not theirs to sell or trade !!

Don't snort the fumes. Don't touch the hot parts.
Get a MSDS on the product you intend on hot cutting.
There is foam - and then there is foam. Polystyrene foam smoke ain't too bad,
but polyurethane foam smoke will give you a dirt nap.
Hot-wiring should be done in a well-ventilated room while wearing a respirator. The respirator protects you
while cutting, the ventilation protects you after you remove the respirator. You should use 'organic vapor' cartridges.
    Anything less is foolish.... IMHO

I agree here. I wouldn't use a hot tool of any kind on any foam. It is too easy to cut with a knife with a serrated blade to take the chance with a hot blade.

Re: HOT KNIFE & HOT WIRE FOAM CUTTERS

I thought I might ought to reply to this thread since it has been a while since I have posted.

I kinda need to clear some things up for IKR since none of these delays were his fault, and honestly they were not mine either, unless someone considers cancer "fault".

My wife, who is also my best friend, has battled cancer since Apr of 08. We thought it was gone but it came back in Aug of 09, and she went through chemo for 9 months only to be told the chemo quit working. We found out about a month ago, that the FDA (US food and drug) had taken the chemo off the market since it did not work. Wasted 9 months! Anyway, they have tried two more chemos and the last one nearly took her life.

Now with all that said, I had the foam wired for IKR and did a lot of computer time to get the 3d model ready for wire cutting. It is just like anything else. There are trade offs, but for straight line or gentle arcs, the wire out performs a milling head 10-1! Speed is not comparable. The trade off is, you have to spend the time on the computer to get the model sliced up with a wire frame re built so it can be cut in the wire cutter.
