    Custom Cutting windshields VIDEO

I came across this on U Tube.

Has anyone ever tried this method?

Looks like a better method than sandblasting.

Although I have not tried this method for myself. This makes good sense to me. Lets think about other methods.

Sandblasting – Makes a mess – micro bits of glass and sand blowing around everywhere. To much pressure in one area causes heat which will crack the glass. Leaves a very rough edge to sand.

Diamond cutting disk on grinder - Hard to control, Can’t go around corners. You would also have to use water or antifreeze to keep it cool.

Glass cutter- Who knows where it will crack! Maybe on the score line. Maybe not.

The method in this video seams the most plausible. It would be slow going but the benefits are good. Easy to control. Glass bits flying around would be minimal, You could make the whole setup cheep. I was thinking of an I V bag filled with diluted antifreeze hanging overhead. What do you all think?

It only needs to be water, he calls it coolant because it cools the diamond bit. Water will just fine although I would also add compressed air to blow away the fine glass and keep the 100 grit tool clean.

I experimented with cutting glass today. This method appears to work very well. I purchased a CR Laurence 100 grit diamond bit and gave it a try.

I used a Rotorzip modified with a tube that supplied water to the cutting bit to keep the bit and glass cool.

To supply the water I went to Wallmart and purchased a roll of 1/4 inch vinyl tubing used for irrigation systems. For about $3.00.
