    NAERC wheel bearing question

I have the NAERC wide track suspension on my build, and believe it uses the S-10 hubs. I want to buy more rear wheel bearings, but dont know what to get. Is there an inner and an outer? Are they for S-10's? What do I order? Help!

I haven't pulled them yet. I seem to be getting a noise out of the right rear side, but haven't gotten in there to find out what exactly it is yet. Might be just a loose brake pad, the sound is intermittent, not constant.

well the gm bearings are self contained so i would be surprised to see a problem this fast unless its a very cheap bearing, i would check the rattle clips on the pads. what does it sound like

My money is on a warped rotor (be careful torquing wheel nuts too).

Could be. I'll have to take it in and have it checked. It seems though that the noise is getting louder the more I drive, so that kind of points to a bearing or CV joint problem.

    Re: NAERC wheel bearing question

That's what my bearing sonded like MM.. Be carefull!! My wheel ALMOST FELL OFF..

My caliper was the only thing holding the wheel on and I got lucky to make it home.. The bearing was making noise for just a short time on the 200 mile trip home from the Dell Run car show, then when I got off the highway I noticed the car was pulling when I hit the brakes or gas.. I was a mile from home and drove it the rest of the way home to discover the caliper was the only thing holding the wheel on.. I even stopped on the roadside and checked the tires and lugnuts to make sure the tire wasnt going flat or falling off.. Everything looked good, but the car was handling like crap.. There was no noise coming from the bearing at this point and I could not hear or feel when the bearing failed on the highway at 65mph.. It was never very noisy and I could hear something "howling" slightly on the highway, but thought it was just the tire noise from the noisy textured concrete highway..

You should just pull the wheel off and check things out back there..

Notice the angle of the rear tire.. Not good..

    Re: NAERC wheel bearing question

I'm hoping its something simple like a bearing, and not a transaxel issue. Theres no way to get ahold of Ken from NAERC to get the P/N or the make of the bearing, so I'm kinda lost on finding a new one. Since its a sealed bearing, is there any way to check if its good when I take it out?
