    Murcie Door Handles 101

Alot of people have asked how to mount the door handles and pockets, so here goes.
Its pretty simple, and takes no more than 1 hour per door.

First, mark the door skin where the handle will sit. On the Murcie, the dimension is 2-3/4" from the back edge of the door. Cut the opening any way you want, I used a jig-saw.

    2 5/8 or 2 3/4?

    ( I caught that Joe!)
Here is a pic of the door handle and pocket. The handle mounts into the pocket with two 1/4" bolts, and can be adjusted front to back, and side to side in the pocket to be centered.

Mount the door handle in the pocket, and tighten the bolts firmly, so the handle cant shift from its centered position in the pocket.

Trim the walls of the pocket down far enough that the handle sits flush with the door skin when inserted from behind. Dont trim to much, the walls of the pocket will be glassed to the backside of the door skin, so you want it to mate as close as possible. I use stir sticks with double stick tape applied to them to hold the handles flush with the top of the door skin, and centered in the opening.

Now flip the door skin over. See how the walls of the pocket have been trimmed to somewhat mate with the shape of the backside of the door? Keep this gap as small as possible.

Once it cures, flip the door back over, remove the sticks, remove the handle, and clean up the opening to make it true. Leave about a 1/8" gap all around the handle. Flush the inside walls of the pocket with filler to blend with the skin, and your ready.
