    I need a Fiero expert. Who knows them inside out????

    I am attempting to run a brace from under my extended window tray and attach it to an area that I do not know what lives behind it. Could someone chime in and let me know if metal is directly behind this plastic area and is it safe to drill a hole to mount my brace? I don't want to drill into something important that I will be sorry for later.

    This is where I will mount the brace to.

    I do not remember anything being down there. I would recommend taking out the plastic tray up there and having a look. The plastic tray that holds the spare tire is easy to take out with 10mm bolts, 7mm bolts and then it slides forward and out. If you have not installed the front battery box yet, this would also be the time to cut the plastic for it.

    there is a metal brace under there but its not directly.. there is a gap and its a lil farther forward. here is the only pic i have that could give you somewhat of an idea... hope it helps.:

    Thanks all for your input.

    I wasn't planning on putting the battery up front unless I have to due to the convertable top assembly not having enough room to fold. I was hoping to leave the compartment for a little storage since I won't have a trunk.

    Unless I hear otherwise, I'll try and drill a hole through the plastic. Hopefully I'll hit the metal brace underneath and install a mounting stud.

    Sean;

    I'll go out tonightand put the plastic tray in and take a shot and then pull it out with reference marks for you as my plastic tray is just sitting in the front area now. From what I remember, the only thing to watch for in that area is the AC/heater lines coming up from beside the gas tank. Other than that, I don't remember anything specifically that would be in the way.

    Should be able to update later tonight.

    Cheers

    Sean,
    The plastic tray sits upon sheet metal in the back. The only other plastic is around the blower motor.
