LP640 - OEM Tail Light Pinout

    Hello,

Does anyone have the tail light pin out or diagrams they'd be willing to share for a set of OEM LP640 tail lights? I have a set that I'm adding to my Fiero based Murci and before cutting wires I was wondering if anyone had suggestions or information to share.

I've looked all over for an adapter to accept the OEM tail light harness however it looks like I'm cutting unless someone knows of another way to get them wired into the Fiero harness.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Thank you, I appreciate it.

I've been meaning to ask how your daughters surgery went.

    Thanks Chris.
    Surgery went well.
    She was discharged Yesterday afternoon.
But refused to eat/drink anything, moody face all day long and no talking at all.
Kept pointing fingers saying her throat is painful. :'(

    But she's doing better today.
No talking but at least she smiles when she got her ice creams
    all she wanted to eat.

    Ok. Here u go.
I don't know how it works as this is what i copied and saved directly from a website (forgotten which one).
Blame me not if it cause u damaged lights. LOL!

    1. Using voltmeter or similar device is neccessary to check which wire is what (like brake,reverse,turn.....) and make scheme on paper. One scheme for original 6 pin connector, second for LP640 9 pin connector. Reason why there is 9 pins on new LP light compare old 6 pin is that there is 3 x ground (compare 1 ground on old light) and 1 additional wire for main light. To make it even more easy, below is exact description which color is what so you dont need any device or scheme.

    Old light 6 pin
    red/blue wire = fog light
    red wire = reverse
    black wire = ground
green / blue wire = turn light
    green wire = brake
    green/white light = main light

old light small 2 pin for side light
purple (connected to green/white coming to 6 pin) wire = main light
black (connected to black coming to 6 pin) wire = ground

    New LP640 9 pin
    3 x black wire = ground
    blue wire = fog light
brown wire = main light (5W)
    green wire = reverse
    white wire = main light ( 2 x 3W)
    red wire = brake
    yellow wire = turn light

    2. Than you just cut both connectors and put (using sockets) old 6 pin on the new light. 3 black gounds coming from light are connected to one black ground on 6 pin and 2 main lights are connected one one pin of 6 pin main light. Simply just follow the colours according above description and you can not miss.

    3. Than you just add tha small 2 pin for tha side light and job is done.

Re: LP640 - OEM Tail Light Pinout

Great news and I'm glad to hear she's pulling through the surgery well. My daughter was about the same age when she had throat surgery and had her adnoids and tonsils removed. She was down and out for about a week and enjoyed every minute of the extra pampering and ice cream. ;D

As for the tail lights, this is exactly what I needed, THANK YOU!

I'll take some pictures and make some drawings and post for others.

    Thanks again,

    Chris

The one my daughter had is Tonsillectomy to remove her tonsil which infected badly.
Caused white pathces all over her throat. Red and very swollen. And high fever on and off too. :-[

Yes. Exactly the same thing happen to my daughter now.
She's enjoying every moment being the Queen in the house. LOL.

    She's adorable!

Daughters sure know how to wrap their daddies around their little fingers. Your comment about saying goodbye before they took her into the operating room brought back some sad memories when I had to do the same. It's such a helpless feeling and honestly a bit scarey.

Please pass on get well wishes from the USA.

Re: LP640 - OEM Tail Light Pinout

Based on LamboLambo's notes, this is the wiring diagram that I created for the Fiero - LP640 tail light conversion.

I'm thinking that the side lights would also tie into the "Main Light" wires if your car has them.

Does this look correct? I'm cutting my wires next weekend.
