355 dash vent and widening of the front crossmember question

What is everyone using for the upper dash vent on the 355's? I believe Rob supplies them with his interior kit but I am not sure if it is OEM 355, some other car or one of his own creation. Since I am using the extended windshield, I would like to move the vent closer to the glass then it would be if it was left in the dash on the non extended windshield.

Also someone on here had cut the front cross member and made it longer instead of wheel spacers or new a-frames.. I did a search and couldn't find anything on it anymore.... Anyone remember anything about it or still have the link?

    Glenn;

I am pretty sure Amida's upper dash vent only covers half of the vent placements in his dash. Not sure that made sense but he uses the stock vent under the dash that comes with the Fiero and then the dash pieces he has made, match up with the outsides of the Fiero vent.

I drew a quick picture of what I tried to explain above.

For the side vents etc. you cut the side tunnels off the stock Fiero under dash plenum and attach round tubing to the outside dash vents.

I ended up making my own defroster vents and plenum that sits on top of the Fiero heater box since I had the extended windshield.

Found a pic of what I was talking about with Amida's dash defroster vent.

    Cheers

Thanks for the photo Don. I wonder why he only went part way with the vent? I will have to see if I can get a set of these vent covers...

Now I need to see if anyone has done the front cross member stretch.

I remember seeing someone do the cross member stretch several years ago. Was it Dale Paynter maybe?

Why not do a control arm stretch rather than do the cross member? The rcc setup is just an extension of the Fiero cross members which would not be hard to make.

One reason I can think of is so that you can use stock control arms. Add a corvette brake system and you have a cheap performance package.

No Don, it wasn't me. I used stock crossmember, stock control arms wheel adapter and a wide Mustang wheel. Not crazy about wheel adapters but I don`t mind them on a lightweight front end. On the rear I extended the stock [Cadillac] lower control arms. I agree that it would be easier to extend the front control arms than widen the stock crossmember.

Re: 355 dash vent and widening of the front crossmember question

Instead of staring a new post, I thought i'd just bump this one.

Can someone tell me what side vents are used in this dash?? (I have the dash and I'm missing the passenger side vent). The "housing" kind of looks like it was made and must use a vent from another car?? (They look a little cheaper than an OEM Ferrari Part to me).

Can anyone shed some light on this for me. Mine is complete except for the actual "adjustable vent".

Re: 355 dash vent and widening of the front crossmember question

The side vents on the pics above that I posted before are oem Ferrari side vents. I have the oem ones as well. The back of the vents where the tube comes into the vent needs to be cut and then repositioned sideways so fit into the upper dash area.

The oem side vents are about $90 each at the dealer. I have seen some other dashes use North American dash vents like Ford etc. I haven't seen any other vents that look close to the Ferrari vents.

    Hope that helps
