    BMW V12 starter

Does any one have a starter from a BMW V12 that they could take a measurement from that I need? Post here or send me a message at eric@kitcarchassis.com. Thank you

I need to know how long the nose is from where it fits against the engine out as far as it extends into the bellhousing area. And if anyone has an engine handy, how thick is the flange on the engine where the starter fits against. So what I really need is to measure with the starter mounted to the engine how far the nose extends into the bellhousing. I am making an adapter for a Porsche Cayman 6-speed.

As harsh as this may sound, I suggest you carve out a spot on your bell housing to allow the starter to fit. If you don't you will be mounting your transmission about 2 inches further rearward.
Besides, the starter nose aligns perfectly with one of the transmission mounting holes. A steel brace can be made to straddle the area you cut out.
