    lamborghini lp640 hinges

So I got the hinges welded on the car and welded to the door and when you lift them up they hit, the door hits the body I dont get it, what the heck am I doing wrong I installed hinges before and they worked no problem. Also who has some reasonable priced hinges, I need three sets.

The hinge should be bolted to the car and the door. Try adding a spacer between the door and the hinge and make sure the hinge (cylinder) is as far toward the rear of the car as possible

    Rob,

My guess is that you don't have the hinge bases mounted high enough in the fenders and you'll need to either shim these or raise them. It's best to have them as high inside the fender as possible and mount the hinge to the bottom of the plate vs. on top of the plate.

Here are a couple drawings that might help show what I'm talking about.

Excellent pics, if the door hinge is coming contact with the body then add the spacer like I was speaking of between the door and hinge.

    Thanks Adrian,

The CAD drawing is actually compliments of Mr. Jimbo. We worked together on the G28 hinges because I wanted something closer to OEM that would fit the narrower G28 door sills (nothing existed).

Jim is an artist when it comes to his hinges. Yes there are less expensive non-OEM style hinges out there, but why spend all that money on your project and leave one of the most recognized parts of the car looking so bad?

I've also noticed that the other hinges have a lot of play in them and you feel it when opening and closing the doors. Jim's hinges are super strong and milled to high tolerances so there is no play and they have bronze bushings for years of smooth operation.

As with most things in life... you get what you pay for (unless it's OEM Lamborghini!) ;D
