Swap out manual trans for an auto trans

    Hi guys,

Im looking to change a 5sp Getrag trans for an auto trans. I know this can be complicated, any thoughts as to what auto trans may work best with a V8, 400hp motor, transverse mount? The car is a Diablo 6.0 replica, thanks,

    S.

it wont be that bad, swapping in a auto is easier than a manual.if you dont want to run a trans controller then you will have to get a 4t60 trans.i have this trans behind my 383 for three years now.do your self a favor and have it rebuilt before putting it in.you will still have some wiring, but it is very little.you can find all the info on pennocs fiero forum on the swap.

Good call on the 4T60. Click around this site and you'll find info on the swap:

I put a 4.9Cadillac in my car with the 4t60E transmission. Read about the transmission swap here:

More info on the trans swap:

Don't forget about the radiator - you're going to need one with a transmission oil cooler in it, or at least to install a transmission oil cooler somehow. Beyond that, add a neutral start switch, and remove the wiring to assure that the clutch is down, and the rest should be fairly straightforward. Good luck!
