As above --- avoid disassembly at all cost --- clean well before you reseal - use good silicon maybe even a high temp type and be sure its dry prior to putting the tire back on.

I don't know about avoiding disassembly but I do it the exact opposite. After taking the wheel apart clean the crap out of it with some type of solvent, I use rubbing alcohol or acetone. Then put it back together loosely meaning just a couple turns on each nut/bolt, use masking tape around the barrel about a quarter inch or less back from where the peices will be joined for a nice clean edge. Then finally start putting your sealant into the joint as you roll the wheel and make sure to spread the peices apart as you roll it. I use windshield urethane for me it seems to work best and I've done a TON of these things. After you get it all sealed up tighten up your nuts in a criss cross pattern, smooth out the seam and wipe of excess, peel your tape before it fully cures and your done!
