Krylon Semi Flat Black - Replacement

Here is a tip from MacGyver's garage!

I don't know about other car guys but for decades I have been using Krylon Semi flat black spray paint for freshening up black areas such as under the hood, suspension parts, etc etc etc. It has long been my favorite spray paint. I found out about a year or two ago that Krylon discontinued it. Once all the old stock was gone you couldn't find it around. I looked around the net and found that Krylon decided to bring it back sometime last year. (too many complaints I guess) only thing was It's only available at select stores like Granger and a few others for over 6.00 a can. Heck - Wallyworld used to be about $3.00 a can. Now all they have is Satin Black and it's to glossy. The good news is Wallyworld has another line of paint called Rust Control Spray Enamel. There Satin black is very very close to the old Krylon semi Flat. I'm happy again now!

Go with Rustoleum. Their paints are extremely durable, super cheap and I've used them on varous projects and even painted my camaro using it and have had outstanding results(Although my color sanding skills suck) I have also used Krylon and Duplicolor in the past all honest their paint is kind of delicate from what I've experienced and not to mention rather expensive. I went back to the areas on my project were I used the duplicolor and krylon paints and redid them with Rusto.

I just discovered that Rustoleum can be used to do a decent, low budget paint job on a car. I'm thinking of giving it a try on my old Toyota pickup. I've used urethanes (BC/CC & single stage) in the past, but never thought of using anything like Rustoleum for a finish job.

I never much cared for the spray can Rustoleum. It takes so long to dry and I'm always in to much of a hurry.

I came across this paint by Wurth. It is the best rattle can paint I have ever seen.

It is hard to find but well worth the search.
