    Fiberglass

    I need second opinion how many layers of fiberglass (1.5 ounce) do i need to have a good body for my project. my guy says 4 i think thats too much

    Depends on what your doing? Is it a body panel?

    ON the sebring kits we did 1.5-1.5-coremat-1.5 in the hood, trunk, and doors. in the front and rear clips we did-- 1.5-1.5-1708 for strength. With that set up we had no problem with changing bodywork after long time periods.

    your guy is right, 1.5 x 4 equals 6oz and thats what it should be , you don't want it too thin, anything less just doesn't cut it , just my opinion

    Quso, for a finished body panel 3 layers of 1.5 ounce with a 4th layer strip around the edges especially where mounting bolts and fasteners go is plenty. you you have to also think about weight. I do 6 layers when im making a mold.

    I was told by a guy who does a lot of fiberglass that it is a good idea to alternate layers of matt and cloth for a good, strong part.

    Can you guys tell me a rough estimate of how many gallons of resin it would take to layup a complete kit if your doing 4x 1.5 oz layers?

    Just buy a drum, it will be the cheapest way to go. You will probly use at least 3/4 with that lam schedule
