A question about Held/AMS tubular upper control arms?

i'm starting working on my F355 replica again now that the weather is somewhat decent.
anyway, i have Held/AMS tubular upper control arms to which i need to provide the cross shafts.
on the '88, the factory CA have a washer on the inside (for what reason i don't know).
i'm putting my cross shafts in the tubular CA and my question is does it need the washer on
the inside like the factory did?

    thanks,
    tom...

The washer is most likely an alignment shim.

That's what I thought it was but is it needed for tubular UCA?

    Thanks,
    Tom
