    Audi a4 acceleration problem!!!!

S-line Audi a4 2005. Basically the car is fine driving and when I try to pick up more speed, the car stops responding, so it won't accelerate or do anything, I will have to stop the car and turn it off then start it again. What could be wrong with it ?

Let me guess it has a multitronic gearbox. I had the same problem in my rs4. The gearbox ecu is not working as it should and goes into some kind of failsafe mode. Not a cheap fix Im afraid Audi wanted close to 9000 $ to fix mine.

Yeap it has a multitronic gearbox, I will be taking it to get it checked by Audi on Tuesday so I will see how it goes, they are really expensive, I'm praying that isn't the problem, you got your fixed mate ?

Nothing has come up on the dashboard though ? And my car had this problem when I bought it and because it was under warranty the dealer got it checked and he said its fixed but my 3 month warranty it's finished since a month but the same problem came up so i will try to get him to get it fixed!

The car can be diagnosed by any technician with vag-com from rosstech, not all faults are highlighted on the dashboard.
Error codes will be stored on the ecu's and should be easy to translate into the actual fault with the car. Audi wll charge 'dealership prices' a specialist will be cheaper and MAY have an answer straight away. Newer cars under dealership warranties are usually repaired by the dealer, where as in most cases, older cars are repaired by the local specialist who may have more working knowledge of that particular make.
Hope you get it sorted, my old A6 tiptronic box lost the clutches and the car was sold for export, just not worth the hassle of repairing it.

Just a thought.... Is the battery in your key full enough? I had a similar problem once with my Volvo s40... Anti hi jacking system kicked in... First limiting speed.. And eventually shutting the car down... When I started it again it worked again and after some time the same symptoms showed...

I thought it was my turbo or something in that array... Simple battery change in my key solved the problem :-)

No it's not the battery, "turbo flash" fixed the problem, car drives really well now. Thank you everyone
